Pilates is an innovative and safe system of mind-body exercise using a floor mat or a variety of equipment. It evolved from the principles of Joseph Pilates and can dramatically transform the way your body looks, feels and performs. Pilates builds strength without excess bulk, capable of creating a sleek, toned body with slender thighs and a flat abdomen.
Barre classes incorporate elements of fitness, dance, and cardio which help tone, lengthen and burn body fat.
Developed by physical therapist Jonathan Hoffman, the CoreAlign was designed to improve posture, balance and functional movement. This method is used for muscular skeletal rehabilitation and performance enhancement. It stimulates the core stability muscles to fire in perfect timing while performing challenging exercises, deep stretches and core controlled aerobic training.
Towel Work was created by one of the Pilates Elders’, Ron Fletcher. Towel Work opens and expands the chest and shoulder muscles. It increases the cervical spine’s range of motion and corrects forward head posture.
The Pink Ribbon Program was created by Doreen Puglisi, an Exercise Physiologist, Certified Pilates Instructor and breast cancer survivor who rehabilitated herself after a mastectomy.
Evidence is growing every day to support the positive role of exercise for breast cancer patients and survivors. Physical activity improves both function and mental well being. This program is designed to improve circulation, range of motion, increase lung capacity, muscle strength, and flexibility, to allow women to regain full range of motion to those areas affected by breast cancer surgery.
Whether it is your first or your fourth pregnancy, the experience is uniquely individual. Let us help you stay fit and feel comfortable at every stage of your baby’s growth. Pilates during your pregnancy will help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles and keep your transverse abdominals strong to help prevent diastasis recti. You will have less discomfort and imbalances, resulting in a quicker recovery.
"The Pilates Method teaches you to be in control of your body not at its mercy."
